What Would You Do If A Customer Told You A Rude Religious Joke?

Filed in Category Religious Jokes

I was at work today and a customer started telling this insulting religious joke. And, my religion happened to be the butt of that joke. He was telling it to the guy I work with but I was standing there when he started telling it. I walked away.
What would you do in that situation?

    I’d walk away/avoid him too.
He may not realize it, but he lost my respect and I’m surely not the only one whose respect he has lost.

I have been. It happens most every Halloween. I could choose to let it bother me, but I am not sure what that would accomplish except I would be bothered. I instead choose to see it as someone being highly ignorant, and most likely totally unaware of just how offensive they might be being, or they are aware and are just jerks. In any case they aren’t really worth the energy to be angry. On those odd days I may be just a little less inclined to be nice…I would probably say something like “wow it sure is a good thing no one around you right now might be a “…”. It tends to make them paranoid, and defensive which I have to say is a little satisfying.

i’d probably let him now about my religion and ask him to refrain from telling these jokes when i’m around. there is no changing people like that but we can try to protect ourselves by standing up for ourselves.

You did the right thing in walking away. I used to do that at work when people started talking trash. It doesn’t make you popular, but at least you didn’t start an argument.

Don’t say anything. He’s just lost it sounds like. You can just be the bigger person. Love your enemies, it confuses them. :-)

I would say that wasn’t nice, and ask them how they would feel if someone else made a joke on their religion.
Some religions get made fun of more than others.

I personally think that you should just laugh it off and let it go. People are always going to tell tasteIess jokes. That’s the problem with freedom of speech.

    What was the joke?
    I love jokes.
Just lighten up. I love black jokes, and I’m black. They are hilarious. Don’t be so uptight.
