Why Is It Okay To Make Jokes About Men, But Not Women???

Filed in Category Jokes About Women

Following the whole Bernie Mac incident, it begs the question while it’s acceptable for female comics to make jokes about men (mid-life crisises, erectile dysfunction, steroid abuse, prostate issues), why is it when male comics make similar jokes about women (menopause, hot flashes, bossiness) it’s considered offensive and warrants protests and becomes a big issue??? Obama then went on stage and went on this rant about how we are still divided by gender. In that case, should female comics making offensive jokes about men be considered an issue as well???

There is a double standard in the entertainment industry nowadays and it’s spread to many areas in our culture. There’s this idea that it’s o.k. to bash the guys but the ladies are off limits. Look at 99% of the sitcoms. They portray almost all the guys as either stupid or sexaholics or little boys who need their wives to mother them. Even many commercials portray men as dumb or only motivated by their sex drive.
What is this saying to our young boys? What message are they getting? Will they feel like they have value when they grow up on these messages? Probably not. Will they have the confidence to face the challenges that life throws at them when many of their examples are wimps and passive groundhogs who hide from their shadows every time trouble arises? Probably not. Will they be walk in fidelity and honor and selfcontrol in their relationships and marriages? Probably not.
Even today there’s a lot of guys who are afraid to step up in the romantic relationships and actually take a risk and even ask a girl out. They’re afraid to be chivalrous and daring and be a man. (How attractive this must be to the ladies – not!)
Who will suffer for this? Guys will for sure but it’ll also affect the women in their lives, their children and society as a whole.
Our humor shouldn’t be bashing anyone because 1, it’s just not funny and 2 it’s lazy and it shows a total lack of creativity, but 3 the messages sent really do have an affect on people and it’s not a positive one.
Alot of people tend to think that because men aren’t as expressive emotionally as some women are that they don’t have a heart, or feel yet nothing could be further from the truth. Men do feel but they tend to keep it in more than others.

I’ve never heard women doing that, because I don’t listen to X/R rated. I’ve never heard males doing the bad things you say. However, what I think is that the things you mentioned are not the same. The things about men are much worse and I don’t think they are funny. The things you mentioned about women are not as nasty/gross.

Men have been laughing at women for years. Why do they button their shirts in the back? How do you have a conversation with someone to whom both yes and no mean maybee? Why do they change their mind all the time – it is because it’s so small?

Funny does not know sexism. Funny is funny. Not is not. Bernie and Barry are NOT.

Why is it ok to make jokes about WHITE CHRISTIAN MALES but no other race or faith? That ignorant Margaret Cho makes me sick to my stomach. She even makes fun of her MOTHER.

I think everyone ought to lighten up and not take life so seriously.
Learn to laugh! If it is even at yourself.
